Kim Kyoung-Mi

Lee In-Soo
Abstract
The researchers developed an anger management group therapy program for parents and explored its effectiveness for changing participants¡¯ anger and parental efficacy. The program was modeled on Satir¡¯s transformational systemic therapy. Method: Participants included 44 mothers with adolescent children. The researchers analyzed the data using paired t-tests and the Wilcoxon Matched Pairs Signed-Rank Test. Results: The Satir-based intervention was found to be effective in improving parental efficacy at the cognitive level. It was also successful in heightening anger awareness and lowering anger expression. Conclusions: The researchers concluded that the parents¡¯ improved management of anger and their accompanying improved sense of confidence in their child raising abilities could be attributed to Satir¡¯s approach to transforming families.
